for everyone
Ouch .. well  we have all had stiff muscles before after doing exercises we are not used to but i cant say ive ever had sstiff arse cheeks before (cue .loads of silly comments (gimps))But yesterdays ride obviously stressed me as never before  today has been a mass of pain even just to sit down.I have now changed the gearing of the bike to 33 =16 ,being new to singlespeed is this going to be ok for normal xc use or do i need to go to 17....please advise

who.....honestly is going to give you advice??
After Thetford winter series 2 my cheeks were sore too, infact I suffered from Thetford back and also related to how a gay guy feels after a really good shafting, probably the amount of grinding up those long uphill winding sections(which incidently i never walked on) and that race probably slightly too higher geared. However at no 3 thetford, same gearing less hilly and no pain in the arse, so to speak.
With my limited singlespeed experience, it totally depends on terrain, conditions and fitness............... go geared bike and then you shouldn't go far wrong, which is why I will go with my superlight or scott scale for the last Thetford race........... oh by the way i'm riding 32-16 if that's any good to you

I agree that the last race made us suffer, but the pain I've got is in my calfs just below my knees from pushing my bike up those stooooopid hills! 2-1 gearing is usually about right for SS, 32-16, 34-17 u get the idea. My SS is 36-17 and that was great for general riding, but would have been perhaps a tooth tall for last Sunday. BTW I get badminton buttocks, which isn't some perverted racket abuse but what you get from running round a court for an hour every Thursday night!!!!!! Sympathies, dude.
